CCA’s Run for Shelter 5k Run/Walk & Celebrate Families Carnival

The Run for Shelter is a Calumet Striders Gold Cup event and is open to all
competitive and fun runners/walkers. The level, paved 5k Run winds along
Valparaiso St., the Vale Park Extension to Campbell St. north and through
neighborhoods back to the church.
Beginning at 10am at the church, CCA invites the community to celebrate our
44th anniversary with our Celebrate Families Carnival. It features live
music, inflatable slide, moonwalk and obstacle course, carnival games, cake
walk, crafts for the kids to make for Mother’s Day, plant sale and food from
Birky’s BBQ.

Heart Attach Prevention Presentation

Through funding from NWICA (Northwest Indiana Community Action) Porter
County Aging & Community Services will host a presentation on Heart
Attack Prevention by Patricia Ann Neely, RN, a Cardiac Rehab Supervisor
for Porter Hospital. This program will discuss signs and symptoms of a heart
attack, heart attack prevention, and more. There is no charge for
this presentation and it is open to the public. Lunch will be
provided. If interested, you must RSVP to Melissa Benefiel at Porter County

presentation.
